Nike Employee Grant Fund Awards
Portland After School Tennis & Education $16,500 Grant
Portland, Ore. — The Nike Employee Grant Fund has awarded Portland After School Tennis & Education (PAST&E) a $16,500 grant. The funding supports conversion of a racquetball court at PAST&E’s St. Johns Racquet Center facility into a classroom where middle-school participants will experience academic tutoring, mentoring, and other enrichment activities.
“We are grateful for Nike’s many contributions to PAST&E over the years, including providing financial support, equipment, volunteers, event sponsorships, and more,” says Danice Brown, Executive Director of PAST&E. “This most recent investment significantly helps enhance the learning environment for our middle schoolers as they build their academic skills and work toward a successful transition to high school.”
The Nike Employee Grant Fund, established at The Oregon Community Foundation in 2010, seeks to benefit communities where Nike employees live, work, and play.
About Portland After School Tennis & Education
Portland After School Tennis & Education (PAST&E) is a nonprofit whose mission is to create partnerships with families, schools, and volunteers to help at-risk K-12 students achieve academic and athletic success. We accomplish this through one-on-one academic tutoring, tennis lessons, a nutrition/fitness curriculum, parent education, and a “Best in Class” development program serving junior players who excel at tennis. Located at North Portland’s St. Johns Racquet Center, PAST&E impacts the lives of more than 1,000 at-risk children and families every year. For more information, visit www.pastande.org.
